Sup, nerds? Here at Paperback Jedi, I have a few regular features that show up on the blog. Here are some deets on them:
The First Line is where I break down the opening sentence of a book. You know how you have some favorite first lines? Well, I’m here to talk about some of the great ones, some of the not so great ones, and some of the wtf ones. I happen to love beginnings and talking about how stories open and the notes they open on so this is always a ton of fun for me. Sometimes I even do video posts on ’em.
Who doesn’t love a good mix cd? Sudden Soundtrack is exactly what it sounds like. A soundtrack I drop here every now and then to match whatever I’m into at the moment. It could be a soundtrack for a book or ship. It could be a mix for a rainy day. It could be a soundtrack to study to. Basically, I just post a playlist attuned to whatever interest strikes my fancy. It could be fandom related or just in general. But everyone could use some new tunes, right?
Here’s where I use the blog to Shoutout To My… well, it could be anyone, really. I use this to showcase people or creators or books or characters or artists or musicians or– you get the picture. I just wanna give credit where credit is due. Plus, it’s always fun to take a look at what other people out there are making and doing. SO MUCH TALENT EVERYWHERE. Who knows what you might find?
Just Jedi Junk is off the cuff commentary on whatever subject comes to mind. Basically, it either fits in nowhere else on this blog or everywhere else on this blog. You can expect thoughts on fandom culture, opinions on trending topics, an ode to my cat, discussions about life and philosophy, my current skincare routine, I mean really, it could be anything.
Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly feature originally hosted by The Broke and The Bookish, but is now hosted by That Artsy Reader Girl. Each Tuesday they take on a different topic with a top ten list celebrating said topic. For example: Top Ten Fictional BFFs, Top Ten Books I Could Re-read Forever, etc. It’s just a great way to get new recommendations and to learn about your fellow book brethrens’ tastes.
Waiting on Wednesday is a weekly feature hosted by Breaking the Spine where we talk about books that aren’t released yet, but we’re super excited to read once they do. I obsessively keep track of monthly releases for YA books (I even a bulk Amazon preorder each month for those releases because I’m hardcore like that) and I’m always anxiously awaiting New Book Tuesday so there’s literally always something I can’t wait to get my hands on.
And that’s pretty much all that goes on here. Clicking the graphics will bring you to all my posts involving that particular feature so if you’re bored and you wanna do some blog surfing, feel free to read up on all that jazz.
